using 4 Hensel Porty units gives 4800ws of power witch we can unleash on location.
These are battery powered generators running on lithium ion batteries.
4800ws is a lot of power, making it possible to manipulate the locations/suroundings we're
working at.
On location I rely completely on these kind of units.
There is no photo in my portfolio that is based on daylight. Even if it just looks
like it.
I just don't like the dutch daylight. For some nice daylight I have to travel nearer
to the equator.
Lithium ion is a new option for these older kind of B type Portys. It's made
possible by the dutch importer only.
Only the dutch importer of Hensel sells these batteries for the porty 1200B at this
moment.
Lithium ion double's the battery life, and has less recharge time on the battery.
And last but not least, it makes the porty unit less heavy then equipped with a lead
acid battery.It's a real upgrade!

Here a image taken at my workshop "strobes on location" (workshop flitslicht op
locatie).
In this workshop we work in small groups with several lighting concepts.
We use multiple Hensel Porty 1200 units as a light source.
Here we were combining the Ringflash with other strobes.
Making it from day to night in an instant ;)
This while adding some effect equipment to make the image complete.

Working at location in the netherlands in the winter does normally mean that it is cold outside. But it doesn't have to mean that's
it's always cold.
On location we can make some nice warm drinks. Keeping the team happy, and keep the
spirit high.
When people are feeling well, they perform a lot better!
The generator is actually mend for powering film lights. But it can power up a lot more of course.
Makeup Artists can work with all their electric tools at places that would normally be impossible. On the right a impression.
Warm drinks are also included in my workshop "flitslicht op locatie" in the winter season.

Models frequently say to me "Mark, you make you're photos almost completely finished with
you're lights"
Were I say "that's photography" the model answers
"I see a lot of combinations with
photography and photoshop"
For me, making the image as complete as possible when recording it, that's my rush.
In the end nobody cares how you do it. But for me, it's a sport.
I don't say that I don't use photoshop and it's possibilities, that would be stupid.
Leaving behind helpful tools is like standing still in a changing world.
Here a photo of my camera taken by the model on this photo.
Since she took this photograph with here phone it lacks detail, dynamic range, and
it's clipping.
Here the end result that is in my portfolio

To the left and right 2 backstage images from my workshop "Studio".
In this workshop
clients build step by step a complete studio setting with 5 lights and the ringflash
combined with several Hensel light modifiers.
On these 2 images you see a client at work with the Hensel
Porty lithium 12 with the 3000ws ringflash combined with other light units..

I Don't like the daylight on the place where I live. As you see, natural light here is very gray and flat!
That's why I am addicted to my Hensel Porty units.
These units are so powerfull that they can illuminate effective a F-16.
Multiple units were used!
For these kind of shots I shoot tetherd on a laptop. The screen of a laptop gives a lot more detail of the shot you took.

A test photo in the setting for the photo I shot with Victoria Romanova.
This studio is in real life entirely white. Gel filters make it look like its looking here.
This was not the final combination for the gels for the end result.
To light a set as big as this one and still have reasonable high F numbers I used a lot of power. 3 Profoto B2 generators and 7 heads (inclu ringflash) are used

Looking with me on my shoulder. This was my largest falling water photoshoot I did in 2010.
6 models posed nude in the artificial rain in the studio
There's also a backstagemovie and a story of this photoshoot in my blog.

The Phase one equiped with a Hensel 3000Ws Ringflash.
However this body has phase one written upon this is actually a mamiya, and can be equiped with mamiya lenses.
I usualy only use primes with this kind of camera/sensor because they give better image quality.
Using this zoom lens was a reminder why I prefer Primes.

This is one of the locations we used in Denmark 2010. I always shoot with strobes on location.
Here you see the Hensel porty 1200B with one head equiped with a beautydish.
The other powercord goes to my Ringflash.
The problem of this location was that it was so immense.
It was hard to capture this.

I just love cats. They can have so much expression in there look.
This cat is my favorite victim.
A friend of mine made this picture of me at "work" while the sun was low on the sky.

In the low left you see one of my assistents. He had a long night ;)
There's also a backstagemovie and a story of this photoshoot in my blog.

This is a large set for a large photoshoot. In this shoot 10 models lie naked in a pool.
The shot was taken from the yellow elevator in the back at full hight. (7meter)
Because this studio is immense (600m2) We want to keep the set small. Therefore we placed the mua's and there stuff close to the set
There's also a story of this photoshoot in my blog.

This was a photoshoot in Denmark in harsh conditions. Wile you see the most people in the background wearing jackets, she would pose in a small dress.
This also was a photoshoot where timing was critical. There was a lot of fog that day.
I had to wait for the right moment were there was an ideal mix of fog and visibility.
This place is immense. These cliffs are 143 meters high.
The greatness of this is hard to capture in a image.
In the picture left of the last cliff you see, you can see little black dots.
These dots are people.
